A Chaotic Nollywood Comedy That Actually Works

Terminally Crazy is exactly the kind of Nollywood comedy that knows how ridiculous its story is and simply decides to have fun with it.

The movie follows Mutiat, an auxiliary nurse who uses a fake pregnancy to get Onyema, a mechanic, into marriage. Things become even more complicated when a patient seemingly dies and the couple finds themselves trying to cover up what happened. From there, the situation quickly turns into one problem after another.

What I enjoyed most about Terminally Crazy is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. The storyline is deliberately outrageous, but the actors commit to the madness, which is what makes many of the scenes work.

What Works

Bolaji Ogunmola is clearly comfortable in this type of role. Her character is messy, impulsive and constantly making questionable decisions, but she gives the character enough personality to keep you interested.

Uzor Arukwe is also a good fit for the movie. His reactions to the increasingly ridiculous situations provide some of the comedy, particularly as his character realises that his marriage is becoming much more complicated than he expected.

The chemistry between the main characters helps the movie maintain its comedic energy, while the story keeps introducing new problems instead of allowing the central conflict to become repetitive.

What Could Be Better

The movie isn’t perfect.

Some of the situations become too exaggerated, and a few scenes feel like they’re stretching the joke instead of moving the story forward. If you’re looking for a serious or realistic drama, this definitely isn’t that kind of movie.

But honestly, realism isn’t really what Terminally Crazy is selling.

It’s a chaotic comedy, and once you accept that, the exaggerated situations become easier to enjoy.

Is Terminally Crazy Worth Watching?

Yes—especially if you want something light and funny.

At around 1 hour and 25 minutes, the movie doesn’t overstay its welcome, which works in its favour. 

It’s not the type of Nollywood film you’ll watch for a deeply complex plot. Instead, it’s a movie you put on when you want to relax, laugh at some ridiculous situations and enjoy a few familiar Nollywood faces.

And judging by its strong YouTube performance—it has already accumulated millions of views on Bolaji Ogunmola TV—it clearly found an audience. 

Final Verdict

Terminally Crazy is messy, funny and deliberately over-the-top.

The story could have been tighter in places, but the performances and chaotic situations keep the movie entertaining. Bolaji Ogunmola and Uzor Arukwe work well within the comedy, and the relatively short runtime makes it an easy watch.

If you’re a fan of Nigerian comedy and don’t mind a storyline that goes completely off the rails, Terminally Crazy is worth checking out.
